Garden Time

Mary, Mary quite contrary,

How does your garden grow?

I am happy to report that mine is officially growing! This past weekend we planted our garden. It felt great to be outside in the sunlight and getting our hands dirty in the soil. We planted all our tomatoes and beans, and cucumbers and broccoli, grapes and melons, potatoes and peppers, you name it, we planted it. There is something so comforting about being able to go out your back door and harvest your supper for that evening. And nothing tastes fresher than picking a pepper or tomato right off the vine and eating it. 100% organically grown food right in my own backyard. This year we’ve expanded our gardens to the front yard as well. We built four new gardens on the front lawn for a variety of melons, lettuces, celery, spinach, grapes and all our herbs.

Everyday there is a little more growth, a little more progress and we are a little closer to our first harvest. We have already been able to pick some asparagus. I’ve never had a fresher tasting asparagus than to pull it right out of the ground and eat it.

I make pickles from our cucumbers and jam from our berries and fresh salsa from our tomatoes and herbs. I’ve even made scented body oils, flavored vodka’s and butter’s. The possibilities are endless.

Send me your favorite recipes. I’d love to try them!

I planted tomatoes, peppers, basil, arugula and green beans. I can't wait for the sun to come out again so they grow. I love this time of year.
