Where is all the Scare?

Halloween week always means a scary movie marathon on some random cable station. This year, I decided to tune in. I’ve watched oldies but goodies including Pet Semetary, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Poltergeist, Christine, The Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, etc. Somehow, these movies didn’t have the same effect on me from when I first saw them as a teenager. Why is that? Is it because we’ve seen them all 100 times and know what is going to happen? Are they too predictable? Are the special effects weak in comparison to movies today? Or are we just unscareable?

What about movies like The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Happening, or Saw? Scary? Truth? Possible? Far-fetched? You decide.

Thus in my quest to find the ultimate scary movie, I ask…What is your scariest movie?

Friday The Thirteenth always is a good fright for me and it make me laugh when that couple gets it in the shower. But Psycho, the original one is my fav. Alfred Hitchcock was the best, he knew how to use the fears of the audience. Gore is never scarey, it's just gore.
